Depression Therapy in Manhattan

Are sadness, hopelessness, or low energy making it difficult to get through the day? You are not alone. Depression is one of the most common mental health challenges, and it is highly treatable. At ThriveWell Psychotherapy, we provide personalized treatment to help you feel more balanced, connected, and empowered to move forward.

How Depression Impacts Daily Life

Depression can show up in many ways: persistent sadness, lack of motivation, changes in appetite or sleep, loss of interest in things you once enjoyed, or difficulty concentrating. It can affect your work, your relationships, and your overall sense of self. If depression feels overwhelming or begins to take over your life, therapy can provide effective support and relief.

At ThriveWell, we listen carefully and work with you to understand the root of your depression while creating strategies that help you reclaim a sense of purpose and wellbeing.

How We Treat Depression

We use evidence-based therapies and tailor each treatment plan to your unique goals.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps you identify and shift negative thought patterns that fuel depression. You will learn practical tools to challenge self-critical thoughts and develop more supportive ways of thinking.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT focuses on building emotion regulation and mindfulness skills. This approach can help you manage the intense emotions that often accompany depression and strengthen your ability to stay grounded in difficult moments.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT teaches you how to accept difficult emotions without letting them define you. You will build skills to stay connected to what matters most in your life, even when symptoms of depression are present.

  • Sessions typically involve open conversation about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Your therapist will help you identify patterns, develop coping strategies, and set goals that align with your values and needs.

  • Everyone’s journey is different. Some people begin noticing improvements within a few weeks, while for others it may take longer. Consistency and openness in therapy often lead to the best results.

  • Yes. ThriveWell Psychotherapy offers both in-person and virtual sessions for clients throughout New York. Virtual therapy provides the same level of support and effectiveness as in-person care and is a great option for clients with busy schedules or those who prefer to meet from home.

  • ThriveWell Psychotherapy is an out-of-network provider and does not directly participate with any insurance companies. However, we do provide Superbill documentation, which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement if your plan offers out-of-network coverage. Our team can help guide you through this process if needed. Here are some questions we recommend asking your insurance provider:

    • Does my plan offer any out-of-network benefits for mental health?

    • Do I have to meet my deductible before receiving reimbursement?

    • How much will I be reimbursed for each session?

    • Is there a limit to how many sessions my plan covers for mental health?

    • Are there any prior authorizations or referrals needed to get reimbursed?

  • To ensure consistency and respect for everyone’s time, ThriveWell has a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours' notice, you will be responsible for the full session fee.
